The Solar Analysis

A phone call to us and about 45 minutes of your time for a solar analysis at your home is your first step. We evaluate the exposure your roof gets to sunlight. If that is insufficient, we can build an effective solar array in a sunny spot of your backyard. Most commercial buildings have plenty of space for solar panels with good sun exposure.

Next we need to know your average monthly electricity use. If you do not have your utility bills available, you can view your power usage over the last 12 months by creating an account on your utility’s website. This information will tell us your annual consumption so we know what size solar installation to design in order to cover your solar electricity needs.

Affinity Solar Energy-designed systems require less than 100 sq. feet of panel area to generate 1 kW of electricity. An average 2,500 sq. ft. single-family home uses about 8,000 kWh of electricity per year; a 5.7 kW system will generate nearly all of the electricity required for such a home on an annual basis.  Once we determine your specific needs, we will submit a project quote that you can rely on to be accurate.

You’ve made the Decision to Go Solar

Congratulations! The next step is for us to apply for your rebate and obtain a permit. Once the California Solar Institute (CSI) receives an application for an eligible system, they will send us a claim form showing the rebate for your project..

As of September 2011, the CSI rebate is $0.25 per watt. That’s $1,425 for a typical 5.7 kW installation! Solar electric systems are currently also exempt from property tax in California.

And that’s not all – Uncle Sam will help, too!

As of 2011, the Federal tax credit for residential solar installations is 30%, based on system net cost after rebate. Additional tax credits are available to businesses.
